A car is an expensive sophisticated thing that
people want, especially the teens. Today, there are a lot of teens have already
had their own car and almost all of them get the permission from their parents
to drive the car to school. The school also allows them to drive to school as
long as they have got their driver licenses. However, allowing the teens to
drive to school is not a lightly decision to take.
Many
parents who have bought their teens a car consider about chauffeuring them to
and from school. The parents who have a career are often too busy to do that
because they have tight schedules. They have to manage their time to take their
children to school on time and pick them up when the school is over without
messing their work schedules up. The teens also have school-related activities,
such as extracurricular activities and group work assignments. Therefore, they
can drive themselves without asking their parents to chauffeur them. However,
buying a car for teens costs a lot of money because a car is an undeniable
pricy thing. Moreover, the teens do not work yet, they still ask for money to
the parents to fill the car gas. The expense will also be increased highly
because of its tax.
The
consideration from the parents who buy their teens a car is also about the
suitability of public transportations. In Indonesia, there are many public
transportations which do not have schedules or exact time when they will pass
by. The teens can be late spending time to wait for the public transportations.
Also, if they get in public transportations, they have to struggle from the
crowd. On the other hand, some people think that the teenagers who drive a car
to school are worrying because there will be a negative effect for the school
attendance. The opportunities of truancy will be increased. Driving a car to
school makes it easier to meet up with friends who are also skipping school.
The
teens will gain valuable driving experiences by driving everyday is one of the
parents’ considerations to buy them a car. The parents believe that it makes
their teenagers be knowledgeable about surrounding areas by memorizing the way
to school. The parents do not have to worry that their teens will get lost or
end up in the wrong lane. That is why the teens need to drive themselves to
school. However, many people believe that teenagers are impatient, careless,
and irresponsible. When they drive, they tend to drive fast and are often
disobey the traffic rules. If the teens get into an accident, they will not
know what to do and the parents must overcome it and will pay a lot for the
hospital and the garage.
To
sum up, there are both benefits and disadvantages to buy the teens a car.
Allowing the teens to drive by themselves or not depends on the parents’
decision because parents have their own considerations and will be completely
responsible to their children. Although there are benefits of buying a car for
the teens, I believe that the teens should not drive the car by themselves. It
will be safer if the parents hire a private driver for their children.
