Speaking More Than One Language Is A Great Advantage

             Last year, my friends and I had a trip to Lombok. We spent our holiday for a week. There were a lot of tourists enjoying the nature of Lombok beach. We met a tourist and we had a great conversation. Her name was Sarah. She comes from Australia. The interesting thing was she could speak Indonesian, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese languages. She told us that speaking more than one language was a great advantage. She had visited Argentina, Mexico, China, Japan and Indonesia but she did not find some difficulties to interact with native people because she understood the languages and could speak it. Speaking more than one language has so many advantages for our life. You may want to read these great advantages when speaking more than one language Sarah gave us.

            When you are traveling around the world, you may find some differences about cultures, customs, and language from your country. Therefore, you need to adapt with this new environment. The way to adapt the environment is by understanding the language. Understanding the language will not give you some difficulties whenever you communicate with native people of another country. For example when you get lost of direction you need to ask some people to show you the way. If you understand with what they are saying, you will not get tricked or fooled by them. When you try to speak their language, they will respect you even if it is not as perfect as their pronunciation.

            Another advantage when you speak more than one language is a great opportunity to study abroad. When you want to go to another country to continue your study, the most important thing that you need is master the language. For example, in Germany, a student who studying in this country but he/she is not able to speak German language will be recognized as unintelligent person. It sounds like discrimination but every country always has its custom, so that was why we need to understand and speak more than one language to improve our knowledge. Beside that, speaking their language will not give us some difficulties to communicate our opinion.

            The most important thing when you speak more than one language is you have a big opportunity to get a great job. People who are expert in more than one language are the most required for certain job. Your ability to speak will lead you to a good position and a great salary in a company. For instance, someone who has ability to speak three or more languages will be more considered to accept the job rather than who is not. So, there will a big chance for you to get a great job.

            Overall, there are so many advantages that you can get from speaking more than one language. There are becoming a good traveler, making a good communication with native people of different country, study overseas, and have a great job and salary. These advantages could improve your life in some ways.
