Get Healthy, Take a Nap

Taking a nap is a common thing to do when we feel sleepy during the day. Many people say that taking a nap is just a waste of time. Not only waste of time but also it harmful for our body because it disrupts the body clock system that actually our body should get rest at night for seven to eight hours. In fact, we may remember that when we were kids, our parents taught us to accustom to take a nap. However, there are also three advantages of taking a nap in term of health.
The first advantage of taking a nap is reviving the energy. It can revive because taking a nap is way more effective to recharge the power of our body in the afternoon. Taking a nap is nothing if compared with sleeping eight hours at night, but taking a nap will give you significant effects to our body. According to “The Secret Truth About Napping”, the author writes that regardless of what type of sleep, a good sleep can help us work better. It may be more common for people to sleep only at night, but that is not really the way our bodies are designed to work. A phenomenon like the circadian rhythm, while some may not feel sleepy until evening, others may feel sleepy at afternoon. As a result, the desire to nap is simply an expression of the natural rhythms of our bodies, regardless of whether we get enough sleep at night.
The second advantage, taking a nap can make our mental performance improved. It can improve our alertness, memory, and many other skill that related to mentality. In the article “The Secret Truth about Napping” the author writes; after a nap, people tend to be happier and more alert. Alertness is an important thing that human needs. Alertness is related with focus to situation around us. Therefore, when we have time to break it is better to spend that time for taking a nap. However, many people do not have time to take a nap because they think it will waste many hours. In fact, we do not have to take a nap for many hours, it just need no more than thirty minutes, if we take a nap more than thirty minutes we possibly get a headache when we wake up.
The third advantage of taking a nap is reducing the stress of the day. We can actually reduce it by taking a nap. Many people think it does not fix the problem, the problem will vanish if we sleep and come back again when we wake up. But it is different because taking a nap really makes our body fresh. Not only body but also mind. It is stated in famous idiom “mensana in corpore sano” usually translated “healthy mind in healthy body”.
In conclusion, taking a nap actually makes our body and our mind be healthy. Taking a nap helps our body to be healthy by reviving the energy, making our mental performance improved, and reducing the stress of the day. Take a nap could make your day better, and actually we need some of it for making our alertness more sensitive.
