Simple Ways University Students Doing English Presentation

Learning in University is completely different from studying at the high school because the previous one is passive and now we must be active students. Lecturers force their students to speak up and present their task in group or even individually. However, English presentation is one of the biggest problems for several college students. Using English as first language in class is major problem in university.It can be very worrying for students who are not familiar with this type of exercise. But in here you will know how doing presentation with perfectly.

The first is making a good preparation. As we know, university students have a lot of activity and task. For who involve in organization and have a job, they would probably do extra struggle for do their assignments. They have to divide their time between duty and obligation as university students. But in one time university student always has leisure or free time in a week and they can use that time to make a preparation for the presentation with search the sources or information for the presentation. There may be no clear beginning, but this is okay because you still learn and in this case you must brief because you have do the best for your preparation.

             The second is tried to practice speaking English frequently. University of Malang consists of many students that come many places. Mean that they have different accent and intonation of speaking the language. Sometimes they use Java or their region accent and intonation when they spoke English. It is very funny and also freak. It is because they accustomed to spoke their original language. Learning English isn’t easy as tear a paper. It needs a process. So, the student must practice frequently to make the pronunciations clear and when they do their presentation the student will speak with clearly and the audience will hear and understand what we have said.

The last is the student must careful with pronouncing words correctly. English and Indonesian have many differences from the alphabets, structure, vocabularies and etc. Master foreign language not only the materials but also the oral too. If we say the word in wrong way, it could be meaning less or probably there will be misunderstanding about your words. “Improper pronunciation and intonation can be real communication breakers”, says Ian Wilson, an associate professor at the Center for Language Research at the University of Aizu in Fukushima, Japan, who studies experimental phonetics. He recommends that non-native speaker to identify English words and practice it over and over to have better result. From those statements we can assume that before us doing presentation we must good in pronunciation.

To summarize, before we doing presentation we must in good preparation to find information, practice speaking English frequently and careful with pronunciation. So, when you will do you presentation make sure you capable in those three things before.
