Using Laptop during Learning and Teaching Process

               Nowadays, Laptops, tablet PCs, PDAs, and even smart phones as classroom learning tools: many students take class note and record lectures for later review by using them. Laptop is very helpful, more effective, especially to develop quality of students and the teachers in learning and teaching process. For instance: an instructor might upload a skeleton outline of a lecture to the online course management system; the students then open document and add the missing information as the lecture or class proceeds. However, using laptop during learning and teaching process has potential to disrupt classes too. For instance: some students might be just focusing their laptops than the Instruction from their teacher during the classes. Wireless connections also has role for students ignore the teachers, they just focusing the connections; game online, social media, and watch video on YouTube during the class. They should do not do that because it can make something problem happen in their future.

            The first reason, using laptop during learning and teaching process in the class has potential disrupt. The students might be just focusing their laptops than the Instructs from their teacher. For instance: when the teacher gives discussion class, but every student just focuses their laptops. It makes situation in the class is not like discussion class. It means, this case detracts from the atmosphere in the classroom, and it seems like there’s a bunch of individuals on their laptops sitting in the class than a group of invested students in the class. Using laptop during learning and teaching process in the class makes the students have unpolished behaviors because they have ignored their teacher, it can give    impact very bad for their future.

            Second reason, using laptop during learning and teaching process in the class has potential disrupt is wireless connection because laptop has application to connect with the wireless. It has potential students use wireless to log in a social media, watch a video on a YouTube, or play game online in the class. Students who do not use laptops might find them distracting because their friends who use it open something make their interested or make their influence then do not pay attention their teacher too. This case makes quality of students become decrease which is caused by those activities. If this case really happens, it will make name of teachers and schools become bad and the parent of the students become disappointed. It also makes lesson which is gift by teachers are nothing.

           Using laptop during learning and teaching process has potential disrupt but according to Hamalik (1986) function of media to learn activity can increase willingness and new devotion, increase motivation and exciting activity of study and even has effect to psychologist of the students. Next, Hamalik said it will be very helpful for effectiveness in learning and teaching activity. In here, laptop belong media for learning and teaching activity because laptop have many applications which can be helpful to develop their ability and knowledge, for instance: Corel draw and Photoshop are used to design graphic which students of SMK use it to develop their ability.

Not only that, laptop also can make assignment easier to finish because they can find the topic fastest. It makes effective to finish their work. For instance: when the students get the assignment from the teacher, they can find the topic which is used as assignment, and it also makes the students more pleasant to independent study because they can find many feature which is very helpful.

Using laptop during learning and teaching process is not only gives advantages, but it also give potential disrupt in learning and teaching process in the class. So, using laptop during learning and teaching should be wise.
