Why School Uniforms Should Be Mandatory

School uniforms are becoming one of the most frequently discussed topics since several decades ago. By mean of wearing school uniforms, students have done the main thing that formality required which means students wearing the standard outfit where it required to attending the school. Even though some people believe that wearing school uniforms are not effective as they assume the student school uniforms only seize their art canvas they have which can be used to show the world who they are.
The very first reason why school uniforms have to be mandatory in the school is because it reduces violence among the students (Stanford & Wade, 2003). By means reducing violence, school uniforms prevent the possibility of students to divide into some groups or we can say it a gang at school. Gang member usually wearing a specific color of clothing to differentiate themselves from rival gang or neutral people who are not in particular gang, in the other words by wearing school uniforms there would able to prevent that. If school allows their students to dress whatever they like and whatever they want, literally this is the gate of violation and discrimination world in the school because teenagers way of thinking are fragile. They cannot easily differentiate whether it is bad or good thing to do due the fact that teenager are easy to be persuaded. Indeed, it would make school purpose from learning environment become violent gang environment. School uniforms reduce the amount of student that being judged for wearing something that might count as “not cool”. Student should be assessed by their character not their appearance.
Second, school uniforms are giving students chance to increase their focus to the learning activity and attitudes in the school by improving the learning environment (Stover, 1990). In this case, school uniforms support students to get rid their focus from the appearance; in the other words they will focus on improving their grades and attitudes. Since teenagers are always being overly concerned about what they wear. If they have to wear school uniforms when they go to school, it will be prettily reduced amount of focus to their appearance or other things that related to appearance. Of course, they will gain their focus to learning activity.
By wearing school uniforms there is no more high social status or low social status, it is only students who want to get proper education  at school.  School uniform has benefit to all families by giving all of the students the same low cost outfit (Anderson, 2002; Firmin Smith & Perry, 2006). The cost of the uniform is not as expensive as the branded clothes which are very helpful to the lower middle class. Obviously, clothes are very revealing that someone come from wealthy family. Although school uniform do not get rid all indication of the economic status, but they do eliminate the basic problem to put all of the students in the same level.
In conclusion, school uniforms are very important due the fact that they are reducing violence among the student, enhancing their focus to the learning activity and attitudes in the school by improving the learning environment, and eliminating the gap between the upper class and the middle lower class families. Overall, I strongly suggest students school uniforms have to be mandatory to the students in the school.
