The Advantages and Disadvantages of Limiting Vehicles Robbing

            The “Begal”( vehicles robbing ) or in other word hijacking, has happened on several cities, for example, Bekasi, Depok,  Tanggerang, and many others. This kind of case surely disturbs the citizen’s safety, because the culprit will not only steal their valuable stuff but also hurt or even kill them in sadistic way. In that case, a limitation may be required to decrease victim’s number. Although the limitation itself may lead to positive effects such increasing the safety of the citizens and make them become aware of the situation, some negative effects may also occurred. For example, there will be any possibility that the “Begal” or hijacker will do revenge, and citizens cannot really feel free to do their night activities.

            First is increasing the safety of the citizens. It means that if the hijacking has already limited, the citizens do not need to be afraid of them, especially if the police officers are around. By the existence of police officers, the culprit will not be able to commit the crime. The officers will watch the situation around them, so any suspicious person or action may attract their attention. For example, there is a woman; she rides a motorcycle alone and is about crossing the bridge. Then behind her, two men with suspicious manner following her, they also ride a motorcycle. On the end of the bridge, there are two officers working on their duties. Seeing the officers, those two men will absolutely stop following the woman, and turn back. From that example, officers’ existence is very helpful for the citizens. Therefore, they do not need to worry much about the hijacking itself. Secondly, the limitation of vehicles robbing makes the citizens become aware of the situation. The limitation warns them not to wander too much on night time. The police officers may have warned them while they do the limitation. Take this for example; some police officers are investigating an area of a residence because some people have reported that that area is troubled with hijacking. While half of the officers do the investigation, the other half will inform the citizens how to avoid the ownership of vehicles. In the other words, they are not only carry out the limitation but also warn the citizens to watch over themselves when the officers are not around.

            However, the limitation itself may also lead into trouble, especially for the people who commit hijacking. They might plan the revenge as a result of the limitation. When some officers conduct the limitation, some of their partner may have already arrested, or even killed when they tried to run away. One example of that situation had been happened on Pondok Aren, South Jakarta. Tuesday night, twenty fourth 2015, there were two citizens, Wahyu and Sri, heading back to their home after buying some food. Suddenly, four men blocked their way and forced them to hand over the motorcycle. They tried to scare them by pointing machetes to them, but Wahyu and Sri could resist. Sri even yanked one of the machetes from a man and made him fall down. Then she started screaming for help and mass of people appeared. Realizing that, the other three men ran away, left away the fell down one beaten by people. After he defeated, they burned him alive. Four days later, Pondok Aren’s denizens received a can letter which say that there will be a revenge because of one of their partners’ death. Even though until now there is no sign of people who want to do the revenge, the denizens have been worried since the first time they received the letter. In the other hand, the limitation also affects citizens’ life as well. The citizens who usually work or just return from their work on night time cannot really feel safe. Some people might mistake them as the hijacker; even it doesn’t have strong probability. If there are any police officers, they might stop them and asking some questions by reason of their suspicion, especially if the people they are asking bring dangerous things such as knife, sickle machete, hammer, or anything else.

            In conclusion, with the limitation, the citizens will feel much safe and become aware of the vehicles robber. Perhaps there is any possibilities that some culprits may vow revenge. And it will make the citizens cannot do their night activities more freely. Apparently, limitation is highly recommended because it helps citizens a lot. For example, they can learn how to watch over themselves from the hijacker, and also make them feel much safer because the hijacking itself have already been decreased. However, the police officer and the citizens still have to be aware. They do not know when the hijacker will commit bigger crime, so they have to be careful as well.
