Let’s Read for Our Bright Generation

             Reading is a source of knowledge. Reading gives many benefits for children, such as: developing the imagination, creativity, and intelligence. Yet, according to the children reading a book is a boring activity and maybe they prefer to play or watch their favorite cartoons. Therefore, as a parent, Introducing books to children can be started as early as possible. Let's make reading become a fun activity for kids. For this reason, there are three aspects that make children interested in reading, such us: types of books, contents, to persuade children to read.

The first aspect is types of books. Types of books which are given to stimulate the child to be interested in reading is something that also needs to be considered by the parent. Selecting books that appeal to children becomes important to be able to attract children to know more about the content of a book. This could be because giving a book with lots of sentences will make children become bored and certainly within a few minutes, children will immediately shut the book. Children prefer a book that has a lot of pictures compared to the book with a lot of sentences. Books with color variations and interesting picture will make children happy to often open the book. In addition, Starting slim volume books are the right thing to attract children to love reading. Parents do not need to force a child with a thick encyclopedia but could be started by giving a thin book that only consists of a few pages. Books that have a slim volume will stimulate children to not be lazy to read the book. Children tend to bring their new stuff everywhere, so giving the thick books will make it difficult for children to do so.

The second aspect is contents. The contents of the book to the children also need to be considered. Choosing the appropriate book content will decide the character of the children. Giving a pictures story book also can encourage a child's interest in reading. Show them the interesting pictures when read a story book, such as: folks and fairy tales story. The pictures not only make children more fixated on the contents of the book, but also help them to understand the characters and the story well. Moreover, if the parents want children to be interested in reading, let the children choose their favorite books. It can be from the cartoons or the games they like. It can make children motivated to keep on interesting and eager to read books.

The third aspect is to persuade to read. There are many ways to persuade children to read, such as: by playing letters and numbers and by giving a challenge. The first way to persuade is playing letters and numbers. Try children to play letters and numbers, such as asking him to find two cards with the same number or letter shape. It can also attach the paper with the names of objects on objects around them. With simple games this is the beginning of our efforts to introduce children to learn to read. The second way is giving a challenge. Challenge children to guess stories. When we read a story to the children, stop at a certain point where the story will lead to one direction. Then, asked children what happened to the main character in children. After that, children familiarize to make up the rest of the story itself. This way he will get used to fabricate a story to tell.
