COLLECTING STAMPS CAN BE AN INTERESTING ACTIVITY

           Everyone has many things to be their collection, such as fashions, stamps, coins, toys, and so on. It depends on their interest and their habits. People want to collect something to make themselves become satisfied. Collecting stamps is one of the most interesting things that people love to make it as their collection. Stamp collectors are called philatelists. These are some philately’s reasons for collecting stamps as an interesting activity.

            Firstly, people make stamp collecting as their hobbies. The hobbies are writing and travelling. Every country has different kinds of stamps to collect, so collecting stamps will be an interesting thing for people who like writing and travelling to other countries in the world. People who like to write letters like my uncle has a lot of pen pal from many countries. He uses stamps that he gets from his pen pal as a collection. Some people who do not like writing letters can do travelling wherever they want to buy many kinds of stamps from many countries and make the stamps as their collection.

            People collect stamps because they love history. Some people like to collect stamps because of their old family’s inheritance. Some people also like to collect old stamps because it is interesting. They usually try to find old stamps from old people who like to write letters or from people who sell old stamps. Old people used to write letters. For example is my grandfather used to keep his stamps in an album, a book, and other safe places for these stamps. When he has children and grandchild, he shared his stamps collection and it is possible for his children and grandchild to be interested in collecting stamps. Usually it happens from generation to generation.

            People also collect stamps because of financial reasons. Business is one of the financial reasons why people collect stamps. Many people like to collect old stamps. My neighbor is one of the examples of person who is collecting stamps for financial reason. She usually tries to find people who sell old stamps. Sometimes she wants to buy the stamps with high price, so she has many benefits from selling the stamps. Then, she will sell it again to other people. She said that the very old stamps would be very expensive until ten million rupiahs. Stamps that are printed on the first day are cheaper than the old stamps with an official stamps seal on it. If the stamps are torn and it is new would be cheaper than the old one and torn too. So, she can achieve her financial through selling the stamps.

            In conclusion, philatelists usually collect stamps based on some reasons. First, people make collect stamps as their hobby. Second, people collect stamps because they love history. Third, people also collect stamps because of financial reason. It is good for you to apply your hobby as philately. Many interesting and useful things of collecting stamps that you can do as philately.
